Deepak Chahar Prioritizes Family over Cricket: Skips South Africa Tour to Care for Ailing Father, Will He Be Available For IPL 2024.

Deepak Chahar, a player for Team India, recently explained his decision to skip the recent tour of South Africa. He shared that it was an easy choice for him because his father was unwell, and he needed to be there for him. Chahar emphasized the importance of family and how his father’s situation required his full attention.

Due to his father’s illness,Deepak Chahar couldn’t participate in the T20I series in South Africa last December and also missed the subsequent matches against Afghanistan. He only managed to play in one of the five T20Is against Australia. As a result, he sees the upcoming season of IPL as his final opportunity to showcase his abilities and make a strong case for selection in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Deepak Chahar talked to ESPN Cricinfo, saying:

“I’d say family comes first. If there’s a family emergency, you don’t think about anything else. When you face a situation like this, you don’t think about what’s going to happen next. When I came out of that situation, I could think about what next I can do. When anyone sees me play the next time, they should be thinking: ‘he’s an improved cricketer’.”

The cricketer, who hails from Agra, feels that the Super Kings had a fantastic auction, leading to some pleasant dilemmas for the team management. He further stated:

“We had a very good auction and I also said recently that we have such a good balance that Mahi bhai and Fleming will have problems to make the combinations. We will have plenty of combinations to play with, so they’re the ones who are going to decide.”

The Yellow Army acquired Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Mustafizur Rahman, Sameer Rizvi, Shardul Thakur, and Avinash Rao Aravelly. Mitchell emerged as the highest-priced player, securing INR 14 crore from the franchise.
