Three teams have already made their way to semis and their is only one spot remaining, but none of the teams playing today have anything to do with semis qualification of world cup 2023 . England are already eliminated, and Netherlands too find themselves on the verge of it.

Netherlands will face England today and their their next encounter is with India, later on Sunday. A lot was expected from England coming into the tournament, but the defending champions did’t stand up to their reputation and been crushed by most of the teams .

Netherlands have pulled off a couple of wins so far but what they lack is consistency in their performances . Both england and netherlands have a couple of matches remaining, so they would want to put up a better show for their supporters and fans. Only time can tell . Also, with the Champions Trophy qualification only depends on their table standing , England wouldn’t want to take these matches for granted.

England won the toss will bat first, playing XI

Jos Buttler: We will have a bat. Looks a good wicket, need to post a good score. Crucial matches for us, we need to win these games. Huge room for improvement. Need to play a good game of cricket. We need to trust in ourselves. Desperate to do things right. Wood and Livingstone are out, Brook and Atkinson are in.

England (Playing XI): Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler(w/c), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid.

Netherlands playing XI

Scott Edwards: We have spoken about it as a group, need to play good cricket. Proud of the way the guys have played. Two more games for to show more improvement. We have shown good signs as a batting group. Teja Nidamanuru comes in for Zulfiqar.

Netherlands (Playing XI): Wesley Barresi, Max ODowd, Colin Ackermann, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Scott Edwards(w/c), Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Logan van Beek, Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren.

Pitch Report

It’s a beautiful bating surface, it’s nice and compact. The average score batting first is 319 at this venue. This pitch is batting friendly, but fast bowlers have picked 77 wickets at this venue in the last six games. This pitch will probably will help the batsman because the ball nice on to the bat and the boundary dimensions are not much big so clearing the rope will not be a big issue.

Harry Brook: The next two games we have to win to qualify for the champions trophy, obviously we are out of the World Cup now, but a big opportunity going forward in these next two games to try and cement a place in the Champions Trophy. It’s frustrating not being in the team all the time, you have to just try and feel like you are playing every game, come to training and practice before the game when I know I am playing and just hope for the best. Just to stay consistent (talking about the learnings over the last couple of weeks), we had lots of downs, but it is important to stay level and not get too high or too low, concentrate on your own game and try and work hard to get better. I’m just gonna try and play the way I usually play and hope for the best.
