The day after AB de Villiers retracted his previous statement about Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma expecting their second child, he took to YouTube for a live show where he issued a heartfelt apology. De Villiers openly admitted his earlier mistake and earnestly requested fans to respect the privacy of the former Indian captain and his wife during this time.
Kohli’s absence from the first two Tests of the ongoing series against England due to personal reasons sparked widespread speculation, with many suggesting that he and Anushka might be preparing to welcome another member to their family. Despite hopes from fans, the 35-year-old Kohli remained absent when the BCCI announced the squad for the final three Tests on Saturday, February 10th.
Meanwhile, De Villiers admitted that he shouldn’t have spread unverified information about Kohli and Anushka. He expressed his desire to see the experienced batter back in action soon.
AB de Villiers made these comments on his YouTube channel.
“My friend Virat Kohli is still not available. I cry out to everybody to give him the privacy that he deserves. Family comes first. No one knows what exactly is going on. I am asking all of us to respect that. I did bit of a blunder in my previous show and I apologise to the Kohli family for that. Just not nice.”
He added:
“I shared information that was not confirmed at all so. I am begging everyone out there to respect him and his family and his private time. Hopefully, we will see Virat back, happy and scoring runs. Like he always does.”
