Facing a target of 139 on a challenging pitch, the Sixers needed 10 runs in the final over against Molly Strano. Carmichael took charge, hitting the first ball for four and then calmly collecting singles with Kate Peterson. Peterson eventually scored the winning run on the last delivery, sealing the win for the Sixers.

The game initially seemed to be in Sixers’ favor after Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner provided a quick start. However, the Hurricanes fought back with disciplined bowling, making crucial breakthroughs. Amy Smith’s 13th over was a turning point, dismissing Erin Burns and the well-set Gardner. In the 16th over, Heather Graham struck twice, removing Chloe Tryon and Kate Pelle, leaving the Sixers at 107/7 with 33 runs still needed from 24 deliveries.

Despite Hurricanes looking set for victory, Carmichael’s composed innings turned the tide in favor of the Sixers. Partnering with Peterson, they successfully chased down the target.

The hosts were left to regret their batting performance, falling short by 15-20 runs of what could have been a competitive total. Lizelle Lee’s fifty laid a solid foundation, but the Sixers bowled exceptionally well in the latter part of the innings, conceding only 31 runs in the last 36 balls. Maitlan Brown and Lauren Cheatle stood out with the ball, supported by effective spells from other bowlers.
