After a nice and stable start from dawid malan and jonny bairstow , England started their innings on a high note and finished at a high note as well , and scored a target of 338 runs for Pakistan.
Solid start from england
England opening batsman from the beginning of the innings played with the intention posting a big target the ball was coming on to the bat very nicely and both the batsman played the ball on its merit and gave a solid start where dawid malan scored 31 and jonny bairstow scored 59 and then malan got out by iftikhar and this partnership came to an end .
Controlled the middle phase
after the explosive start england’s middle order batsman did’t gave up the momentum and they were still scoring runs at the fast pace where both the senior players joe root and ben stokes played a nice knock and they both scored a half century respectively , joe root scored 60 runs and where stokes scored 84 runs and later down harry brook and jos buttler played a supporting role innings and at the last david willy finished the innings with 2 fours and 1 six and england was able to gave a target of 338.
All round bowling from pakistan
Pakistan bowlers from the start of the innings were not in the zone as per their reputation but later on they hold they tighten the grip in their bowling and stopped the england’s inning on 337 only where at a one point it was looking a 380+ total , haris rauf took 3 wickets in his 10 overs spell and along with him shaheen afridi and wasim jr. took 2-2 wickets each and iftikhar ahmed took one wicket in his spell of 7 overs.
Jonny Bairstow:” You saw early on there was a bit on it for the bowlers. There are some sparse green patches, they bowled well upfront. Been able to assess the pitch, the ball was doing early on, tried to capitalise when given the opportunity to. It is a strong performance from the boys, everyone contributed well. It is a lovely way to finish the world cup with the bat. Hopefully, we can go out and defend this total.”
