Kris Srikkanth, the ex-chief selector of the Indian cricket team, believes that Rohit Sharma will be leading the squad in the T20 World Cup this June. This prediction comes after Rohit’s comeback for the three-match series against Afghanistan.

Notably, Rohit captained the team during the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final against England, where they faced a defeat. Since then, Rohit hasn’t been part of India’s T20 International matches until his recent inclusion in the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
Despite being away from the T20 format for 14 months, the influential cricketer has been appointed as the captain for the upcoming series. During Rohit Sharma’s absence, Hardik Pandya served as the regular skipper for the T20 International side. However, due to Hardik’s injury, Suryakumar Yadav took over the captaincy in the last two series. Both Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will be absent from the Afghanistan T20Is as they recover from their respective injuries.
Sharing his thoughts on his YouTube channel after the squad announcement for the Afghanistan series, Kris Srikkanth expressed confidence in Rohit Sharma leading the team in the T20 World Cup.
“All signs suggest that Rohit Sharma is going to lead India in T20 World Cup,” Srikkanth said. “That’s how it’s going. The very fact that he is made captain nowâ€æ yes, Hardik Pandya is injured, Suryakumar Yadav, who was the deputy, is also not available due to injury. Jasprit Bumrah is also not there. Obviously, Rohit Sharma will be the captain.”
