Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya might not play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an ankle injury, according to sources we got to know that he might miss the season but its not official right now. Hardik recently moved from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians before the IPL auction. Initially, he was part of Gujarat Titans’ retention list but was traded to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal before the auction. Sources have revealed that Hardik will miss the T20I series against Afghanistan also , and there is uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming IPL season.
Hardik Pandya Been Suffering from Ankle Injury
Hardik Pandya has been sidelined since injuring his ankle during a World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. Mumbai Indians had announced Hardik as their captain for the upcoming IPL season after his trade from Gujarat Titans, replacing the longtime captain Rohit Sharma.
Before the 2022 season, Hardik pandya had played seven seasons for Mumbai Indians before being released. Upon joining Gujarat Titans, he led the team to consecutive IPL finals, even winning the trophy in their debut season.
Surya Kumar Yadav can be a captain choice for Mumbai Indians.
Hardik was absent from the recent white-ball leg of the South Africa tour and the T20I series against Australia. In his absence, Suryakumar Yadav led India to a 4-1 series win over Australia, while the T20I series ended in a draw.
If the reports are true, this development could be a significant setback for both Team India and Mumbai Indians, and mumbai indians had to make a hard call and appoint a new captain for the season , Mumbai Indians have many choices in front of them for captaincy task , they might make surya or jasprit bumrah for this choice in this year’s IPL season.
During the IPL 2024 auction, Mumbai Indians acquired quite talented young bowlers which will make their bowling more strong and their bowling squad include South African pacer Gerald Coetzee as their first pick. Coetzee, with a base price of Rs 2 crore, was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 5 crore after bidding wars with RCB and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
