Starting the day at 410 for 6, Sri Lanka could only add 29 runs to their overnight score. Naveed Zadran made crucial breakthroughs by dismissing Sadeer Samarawickrama and Prabath Jayasuriya, while Chamika Gunasekara was forced off the field due to discomfort after being struck on the helmet by a delivery from Naveed Zadran.

Afghanistan’s Nijat Masood then bowled Asitha Fernando to bundle out Sri Lanka for 439, leaving Afghanistan with a substantial deficit to overcome in their second innings.

Ibrahim Zadran and Noor Ali Zadran provided a solid start, building a 106-run partnership that lasted nearly three hours. Despite their cautious approach, Ibrahim Zadran displayed moments of aggression, hitting three consecutive boundaries off Kasun Rajitha just before lunch.

After a slow start in the post-lunch session, Noor Ali found the boundary off Vishva Fernando, but was soon followed by his partner getting dismissed leg before wicket by Asitha.
