India vs England, 3rd Test – Return of Rahul and Jadeja.
India’s cricket squad for the final three Tests against England has been bolstered by the return of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, both having recovered from their respective injuries. Rahul, who was sidelined due to a quadriceps injury, and Jadeja, who was nursing a hamstring issue, missed the Test in Visakhapatnam but are now back in contention. However, their participation is contingent upon clearance from the medical team, as clarified by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Their comeback is a significant boost for the Indian team, which has been grappling with the absence of key players. Notably, fast-bowling stalwart Mohammed Shami is still recuperating from an ankle injury sustained during last year’s World Cup, while former captain Virat Kohli has opted out of the series due to a family emergency.
In addition to Shami and Kohli, India will also be without the services of Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to back stiffness. This setback has paved the way for Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan to retain their spots in the squad.
Despite these absences, there are some changes and inclusions in the squad. Mohammed Siraj, who was rested for the second Test in Visakhapatnam, makes a return to the fold. Mukesh Kumar has managed to hold onto his spot, while Avesh Khan has been replaced by Akash Deep in the squad.
With Jadeja’s return, Saurabh Kumar has been released from the squad, indicating a shuffle in the team composition. The upcoming third Test, poised at 1-1 in the series, is set to commence on February 15 in Rajkot. As India aims to seize the advantage in the closely contested series, the return of Rahul and Jadeja provides a timely boost to their campaign.
