Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan played fantastic innings, leading India to an exciting two-wicket victory against Australia in the first T20I on Thursday. India had to chase a challenging 209 runs, and even though they lost two early wickets, Surya scored 80, and Ishan added 58, helping India get back on track. Rinku Singh then made a quick 22 off 14 balls, and host managed to finish the match on the very last ball. Tanveer Sangha took two wickets for Australia. In the earlier part of the game, Josh Inglis scored his first T20I century, guiding Australia to a total of 208/3 in 20 overs.

Josh Inglis went all out, smashing an impressive 110 runs in just 50 balls, driving Australia to a total score of 208/3. Suryakumar Yadav, in his debut match as India’s captain, won the toss and opted to bowl. Despite resting several World Cup winners, Australia’s Steve Smith opened the batting and made a strong start.

Although Smith’s run was eventually halted and opening partner Matthew Short fell to Ravi Bishnoi, Josh Inglis took charge of the game. In just 29 balls, he notched up a half-century with Smith holding the other end. The duo combined for an impressive 130 runs off 66 balls for the second wicket, with Smith contributing 36 off 23.

Smith eventually departed with a score of 52 off 41, and Inglis achieved a century in just 47 balls, matching Aaron Finch’s record for the fastest T20I century by an Australian.

India faced a shaky start

host faced a shaky start, but Suryakumar and Ishan Kishan led a powerful comeback. The pair added 112 runs in 60 balls for the third wicket. Although Kishan was dismissed for 58 off 39, Suryakumar continued to play a crucial role.

Tilak Varma made a quick 12 before falling, and Rinku Singh made a strong start. The game came down to India needing seven runs to win in the last over. Rinku hit the first ball for a four, and a leg-bye was taken on the second ball. However, Axar Patel’s dismissal made the game thrilling.

With one run needed off the last ball and Rinku on strike, he hit a six, but it was declared a no-ball due to Sean Abbott’s overstepping. Therefore, only the one run from the no-ball was counted, and Rinku finished on 22 off 14. Suryakumar had earlier scored 80 off 42.

host not only surpassed their own record for the highest successful T20I run chase but also took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
