Hampshire has brought on board Michael Neser, the Australian fast bowler, for their initial eight T20 Blast matches of the season. Additionally, he will serve as backup for Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas in several County Championship fixtures.
Michael Neser‘s fellow Australian, Nathan Ellis, has been a key player for Hampshire in recent seasons, particularly in their victorious campaign in 2022. However, Ellis is expected to miss out this summer due to his commitments with the T20 World Cup. This prompted Hampshire’s director of cricket, Giles White, to recruit Neser, who is not part of Australia’s T20 squad.

“Nathan had a very positive impact on the team and we are confident that Michael will do the same,” White said. “He adds quality across the disciplines and formats – he also comes with an excellent reputation as a team-oriented player. He has good experience of English conditions and hopefully he can hit the ground running.”
Last year, Michael Neser represented Glamorgan and showcased his skills with the ball, claiming 12 wickets for Brisbane Heat in the recently concluded Big Bash League, where they emerged victorious. His impact wasn’t limited to bowling; he also displayed excellence in fielding, taking some remarkable catches in the outfield.
Moreover, Michael Neser proved his worth with the bat by scoring an unbeaten 64 runs in a crucial match against Perth Scorchers, helping his team secure a home qualifying final.
