Defending champions MI New York (MINY) have opted to retain the core of their championship-winning squad from the inaugural season. The dynamic quartet of Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Dewald Brewis, and Tim David will once again spearhead MINY’s formidable batting lineup, while the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, and Rashid Khan will continue to bolster their bowling attack.

Meanwhile, last year’s runners-up, Seattle Orcas, have secured the services of South African stalwarts Heinrich Klaasen, Quinton de Kock, and skipper Wayne Parnell. Adding depth to their lineup is the retention of Pakistan’s Imad Wasim, who brings valuable experience and versatility to the team.

Faf du Plessis, the seasoned campaigner, returns to lead the Texas Super Kings (TXSK) alongside the talented duo of Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner. The trio will look to replicate their past successes and lead TXSK to glory in the upcoming season.

In Los Angeles, the Knight Riders (LAKR) have retained their marquee players Andre Russell and skipper Sunil Narine, along with the explosive Englishman Jason Roy. The addition of Aussie paceman Spencer Johnson and leg-spinner Adam Zampa further strengthens LAKR’s bowling arsenal.

San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom, under the mentorship of Ricky Ponting, have opted for a strategic overhaul in their retained players. Unicorns have pinned their hopes on the red-hot Finn Allen, while concerns loom over the availability of Haris Rauf. The Washington Freedom, on the other hand, have secured the services of the promising Akeal Hosein and the talented Marco Jansen.

With the option to include nine international players in their squads, the franchises are gearing up for intense negotiations to finalize their rosters. While there’s no international player draft in place, franchises are expected to directly engage with their preferred players for additional international signings. Domestic retentions are slated to be confirmed by the end of February, paving the way for the domestic draft in March.

As the countdown to the second edition of MLC begins, fans can’t wait to witness the electrifying cricketing action unfold on the field. With retained players ready to showcase their talent and new signings on the horizon, the stage is set for another thrilling season of cricketing extravaganza in the Major League Cricket.
