In a surprising twist, shubman Gill revealed that he had set a New Year’s resolution for himself on December 31, 2022, and shared it in the post. Much to everyone’s delight, he accomplished every single goal he had set for himself in the past year.

Gill expressed that 2023 was filled with fantastic experiences, fun, and learning. He officially became a full-time member of the India senior national team during the year. Starting the year with an impressive maiden ODI double-century against New Zealand, Gill became the youngest player to achieve this feat. He accumulated 1584 runs in ODIs with an outstanding average of over 60, including six centuries. In T20Is, he showcased his batting prowess by scoring a century against Australia at home, marking his only 50+ score in the format for the year.

IPL Success with Gujarat Titans

In the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Gill’s performance was nothing short of brilliant. Finishing the season as the highest run-scorer, he amassed a stunning 890 runs, securing the Orange Cap. Gill hit three centuries in the tournament, with the highest score being 129. By achieving this milestone, he joined the elite group of batters who have scored over 800 runs in a single IPL season, ranking second only to Virat Kohli’s impressive 973 runs in 2016.

The 24-year-old also acknowledged the challenging moments of the year, including the heartbreaking losses in the ODI World Cup final and the Boxing Day Test in South Africa. Despite sitting out of the first two World Cup matches due to dengue, Gill’s performances afterward were not up to par. He also acknowledged that his Test outings in the year were not impressive.
