Sydney Sixers vs Melbourne Renegades BBL 13, pitch report, playing 11, venue….

The Sydney Sixers are set to face off against the Melbourne Renegades in the second match of the Big Bash League 2023-24 this Friday, December 8, at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Last season, the Sixers secured the second spot with an impressive record of 10 wins in 14 games. Unfortunately, their journey was cut short when they lost the challengers game to the Brisbane Heat by four wickets. The Sixers managed to score only 116 runs in that match.

On the other hand, the Melbourne Renegades had a decent league stage performance, winning seven out of their 14 matches and finishing third in the points tally. However, their campaign came to an end when they lost the knockout match against the Heat. It’s sure to be an exciting match as these two teams clash in the upcoming fixture.

This season, Moises Henriques will once again take the charge Sixers in his hands. However, there have been some notable changes in the squad. Daniel Christian, who retired from T20 cricket last season, has been succeeded by Tom Curran. The bowling unit has seen a shake-up as well, with the introduction of 20-year-old spinner Joel Davies from Sydney Thunder and the inclusion of Mitchell Perry, who previously played for Melbourne Renegades in the 2020-21 season. On the flip side, last season’s players Joel Davies, Mitchell Perry, Mickey Edwards, Chris Jordan, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Nathan Lyon won’t be returning.

Over at the Renegades, Nic Maddinson will resume his role as the team’s leader after overcoming an ACL injury that saw Aaron Finch step in last season. Will Sutherland will serve as the vice-captain. The batting unit has seen additions with the inclusion of Joe Clarke and Quinton de Kock. However, notable names like Martin Guptill, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Harris, Andre Russell, Zak Evans, Akeal Hosein, David Moody, Jack Prestwidge, Corey Rocchiccioli, and Sam Harper have been released.

In an interesting trade deal, Adam Zampa has moved from Melbourne Stars to the Renegades, with Sam Harper going the other way. Furthermore, Nathan Lyon bid farewell to a decade-long stint with the Sixers and will now be donning the Renegades’ colors. Peter Siddle has also made a switch from Adelaide Strikers to lead the Renegades’ pace attack this season. The team has undergone significant changes, setting the stage for an exciting and dynamic season ahead.
