Afghanistan’s tour of Sri-Lanka 2024 just got more exciting with the addition of the (ODI) leg to the schedule.

Afghanistan’s tour of Sri-Lanka – On Sunday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board revealed the schedule for Afghanistan’s upcoming cricket tour to Sri Lanka in February. The tour will include a single Test match, followed by three ODIs and three T20Is. After the Sri Lanka leg, the team will then travel to the UAE to host Ireland for a comprehensive series, featuring one Test match, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

The solitary Test match is set to take place at the SSC in Colombo from February 2 to 6. Following that, the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the three ODIs on February 9, 11, and 14. The action will then move to Dambulla for the three T20Is scheduled for February 17, 19, and 21.

Turning attention to the series against Ireland, the Test match is slated for February 28 to March 3 in Abu Dhabi. Subsequently, all ODIs and T20Is will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The ODIs are scheduled for March 7, 9, and 12, while the T20Is will take place on March 15, 17, and 18.

Originally, Afghanistan’s tour limited to a solitary Test match and three T20 Internationals T20Is. However, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) engaged in discussions with the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board, leading to an agreement to include an additional three One Day Internationals (ODIs) in the tour schedule.

“The addition of these three ODIs is a significant move to ensure a complete and comprehensive tour which not only provides good exposure to Afghanistan Cricket but will also foster stronger relations between the two nations. Playing Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka is always tricky but is a challenge that AfghanAtalan can easily embrace,” said ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf.

ACB CEO Naseem Khan added: “The Year 2024 is a very busy and full of highly voltage competitions for the Afghanistan National Team which is a very good and positive sign for Afghanistan Cricket. The upcoming tours of India, and Sri Lanka, and then the home series against Ireland will help us to prepare the team for the much-important T20 World Cup. Eagerly looking for the multiple series upfront.”
