India vs England – In a commanding display of batting, India has positioned itself in a dominant stance against England in the opening Test in Hyderabad. Stellar performances from the middle order, including KL Rahul’s impressive 86 and Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 81, have propelled India into a commanding lead of 175 runs at the close of Day 2.

The day started with a bang for England as they swiftly removed overnight batter Yashasvi Jaiswal in the very first over. Jaiswal, who seemed set to continue his aggressive play, fell for 80 after chipping a delivery back to Joe Root.

Shubman Gill, on the other end, initially focused on building his innings but eventually attempted to break free with an ambitious shot down the ground. Although the mistimed shot landed safely, Gill couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity and was dismissed. KL Rahul took charge, shouldering the bulk of the scoring, especially against Mark Wood, whom he punished with consecutive boundaries.

Shreyas Iyer, growing in confidence, contributed well before mistiming a shot and getting caught in the deep. Rahul continued to shine, bringing up boundaries against Rehan Ahmed and giving India the lead. Ravindra Jadeja then joined the run fest, punishing deliveries from Joe Root and Rehan Ahmed, including a six over mid-wicket.

Despite Rahul falling short of a century, KL Rahul and KS Bharat frustrated England, extending India’s lead beyond 100 runs. England managed to break through with Root dismissing Bharat, and a mix-up cost R Ashwin his wicket.

However, England couldn’t capitalize on the breakthrough, and Axar Patel, along with Jadeja, piled on more misery for the visitors. The duo guided India’s total beyond 400, and in a late flourish, Axar smashed 4, 6, 4 off the final three balls of the day, cementing India’s dominance.
