The IPL 2024 Player Auction is around the corner, and the list of players up for grabs has been unveiled. A total of 333 players will be vying for spots on teams, with 214 hailing from India and 119 from overseas, including two players from associate countries. The highest reserve price is set at INR 2 Crore, featuring 23 players, including notable names like Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav, all from India.

Among the 20 players listed under the highest base price are some familiar faces like Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc. Australia’s World Cup-winning captain, who skipped the last season, is back in the mix, and Starc returns after a substantial gap. Although Hazlewood might miss the initial IPL matches due to the birth of his child, he’s still in the top price bracket.

Seven Australians, with a base price of INR 2 Crore, are part of the auction, including Travis Head, the hero of the 2023 World Cup. Seven English cricketers, including Harry Brook, are also in the mix. Noteworthy South African players with the highest base price include Gerald Coetzee, who shone in the World Cup. Lockie Ferguson from New Zealand, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur, and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb complete the list of top-bracket players.

Moving down the list, 13 overseas players find themselves in the second-highest base price category of INR 1.5 Crore. Players like Wanindu Hasaranga, Jason Holder, and Chris Jordan fall into this bracket. The auction also includes 14 players with a base price of INR 1 Crore and 11 players at INR 75 Lakh.

Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand’s standout in the World Cup, and Azmatullah Omarzai, an impressive player from Afghanistan, are both listed with a base price of INR 50 Lakh. The IPL auction is scheduled for December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, starting at 2:30 PM IST. Teams have 77 slots to fill, with a maximum of 30 for overseas players, and a total purse of INR 262.95 Crore. Kolkata Knight Riders lead with 12 slots to fill, while Gujarat Titans have the highest purse (INR 38.15 Crore) after trading Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash transaction.
