Prithvi Shaw, the promising cricketer from Mumbai, is all set to make a grand comeback! After a long period due to a knee injury, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to include him in their Ranji squad. This news comes after Shaw received the green light from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), which deemed him fit and ready for competitive cricket once again.
At the age of 24, Prithvi Shaw has been out of action since August last year, nursing his knee ligament injury. However, his dedication and hard work have paid off as he gears up to return to the field. The decision to include him in the squad led by Ajinkya Rahane comes just in time for their upcoming match against Bengal at the iconic Eden Gardens, starting from February 2.
The road to Shaw’s comeback hasn’t been easy. Recent reports from Bhaaratsports highlighted a delay in his return, as the NCA wanted to ensure he was fully prepared for the rigors of professional cricket. They put him through rigorous batting and fielding drills and subjected him to higher volumes of workload to test his readiness. Specifically, Shaw underwent intensive acceleration, change of direction, and agility drills over the past few weeks to strengthen his injured knee ligament.

Finally, on Wednesday, the NCA gave Shaw the green signal to participate in the Ranji Trophy, much to the delight of Mumbai cricket fans. With his inclusion, Mumbai’s traveling squad now consists of 17 members, bolstering their lineup for the upcoming matches.
Mumbai currently sits atop the Elite Group B Ranji points table with an impressive tally of 20 points from four games, boasting three wins and just one loss. Shaw’s return adds further depth and talent to their squad, potentially strengthening their position in the tournament.
