The caribbean spinner sunil Narine announced retirement from international cricket . The spinner is 35 years old and announced his retirement via post on instagram page while also he clarifies that he will still be playing  franchise cricket around the world.

International debut in 2011

Sunil narine came in focus during 2011 Champions League T20 and in the same year he made his international debut for the west indies , narine only made his appearance in 6 test match only which was also way back a decade ago , the caribbean spinner played a important role in winning the world T20 in 2012.

Narine made a dazzling debut in the IPL back in 2012, snatching the Player of the Tournament title and helping Kolkata Knight Riders winning the championship. Despite his initial success, he faced a setback in November 2015 when he was prohibited from bowling in international cricket.

Although he was given the green light to bowl again in April 2016, his appearances for the West Indies national team dwindled, with his most recent game being in August 2019 in a T20I. Despite his strong performances in the IPL, he was left out from West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup in 2021 because he did not meet the necessary fitness requirements. Throughout his international career, the 35-year-old managed to claim 165 wickets all across various formats.

Expressing his sentiments, Narine stated, “It has been more than four years since I last represented the West Indies, and today I am officially retiring from international cricket. While I may not be one for public declarations, there are a select few individuals who have supported me unwaveringly throughout my journey. To them, I am deeply grateful for helping me achieve my dream of playing for the West Indies.”

Acknowledging the support he received, Narine also thanked West Indies cricket , the coaching staff, passionate West Indies fans, and his teammates for enabling him to compete at the highest level across all formats, leading to some unforgettable victories.

Additionally, Narine confirmed that the ongoing Super50 Cup will mark his farewell from List A cricket. “Winning the current Super50 Cup would be the perfect way to conclude this chapter,” he stated. “Beyond this, my focus will remain on the franchise world in the foreseeable future.”
