Virat Kohli has been extended an invitation to attend the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, making him the latest Indian cricket team player to receive this honor. Joining the likes of MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, and Venkatesh Prasad, Kohli, along with his wife Anuskha Sharma, a renowned Bollywood actress, has been invited to grace the grand inauguration of the temple in Uttar Pradesh.
While Kohli was on the road with the Indian cricket team for the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, he took a detour to Mumbai from the tour to personally receive the invitation before heading to Bengaluru for the third match.
On the cricket front, with the series already secured, India is keen to fine-tune their T20 strategy as a cohesive unit. The team is hopeful that skipper Rohit Sharma finds his form with the bat in the upcoming third and final match against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
This game holds significance as it marks India’s last T20 encounter before the World Cup in June. The team management aims to maintain the intensity displayed in their victories at Mohali and Indore. The identical six-wicket wins showcased an ultra-aggressive approach from the outset, with the team successfully chasing down targets of 159 in 17.3 overs and 173 in 15.4 overs, respectively.
