How many records is Rohit Sharma expected to break at the One Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023? In the 29th match of the ICC World Cup, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma added another milestone to his already impressive career. On Sunday, in India’s sixth match of the ICC World Cup against England led by Jos Buttler, Rohit Sharma marked his 100th appearance as the captain of the Indian cricket team. The match took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Rohit Sharma has now become the seventh Indian captain to participate in 100 international matches. In achieving this milestone, he has gone beyond the records set by former captains Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. The legendary Sachin Tendulkar led the team in 98 matches, while Sunil Gavaskar captained in 84 matches. This exclusive group of 100-match captains also includes renowned names such as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid.

Rohit Sharma has an outstanding track record as the captain of the Indian cricket team. Prior to his stint, the batting maestro Virat Kohli led India in 213 matches, out of which India emerged victorious in 135 games and faced defeat in 60 matches. Interestingly, Rohit, who succeeded Kohli, holds the highest win percentage as India’s captain. Before the ICC World Cup match against England, Rohit had secured victories in 73 matches while leading the Indian team. During his captaincy, India suffered losses in 23 matches, with 2 games ending in a draw. Notably, Rohit boasted an impressive win percentage of 73.73 in international cricket.
