Uganda made history in cricket world.

Uganda made history in cricket world by qualifying and securing a spot for the T20 World Cup 2024 for the very first time in international cricket . They secured their spot in world cup by defeating Rwanda in their final game of the Africa region qualifier. This victory of Uganda not only marked their qualification but they also prevented Zimbabwe from making their appearance to the main event in the West Indies and the USA next year.

Before this, Namibia had already secured one of the two available spots for the world cup tournament. Going into the last round of matches on November 30, Uganda was the favorite to win, facing a winless Rwanda. For Zimbabwe to surpass Uganda in the points table, they needed to beat Kenya and hope for Matooke Republic to lose to Rwanda. However, Rwanda struggled from the start, losing a wicket in the first over and never recovered from a initial loss and their batting unit did’t put up a show.

Only two Rwandan batters reached double digits, and their entire batting lineup fell apart, leading to a total score of just 65. Uganda easily chased this target, winning by nine wickets and securing their spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Despite Zimbabwe’s efforts, including their captain Sikandar Raza hitting eight sixes in his 82-run innings, they posted a total of 217. However, their loss to Matooke Republic four days earlier ultimately cost them with no place in the World Cup 2024.
